Acclaimed violinist and two-time Grammy nominee Jennifer Frautschi and her husband, equally-accomplished horn soloist Eric Ruske, join the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance of Dame Ethyl Smyth's Concerto for Violin and Horn. The musical creations of Smyth, a glass-ceiling-smashing composer, author and suffragette, were strongly influenced by Johannes Brahms, whose own Tragic Overture opens this concert, conducted by Michael Butterman at Denver's Pinnacle PAC. Symphony No. 4 by Brahms' beloved mentor Robert Schumann serves as the fitting finale.
