What You'll Get

Jazz musician Henry Grimes is a master of upright bass and violin who has made his way through over 500 concerts and festivals in 28 countries since his start, disappearance and reappearance in the 1950s. A Juilliard School alumni, Grimes has played with the likes of renowned musicians of the era, from Charles Mingus to Benny Goodman, Don Cherry and more. After his mysterious break in the 1970s, during which time many believed the double bassist to be dead, Grimes resurfaced to the scene, appearing on countless jazz albums of musicians like David Murray to Marc Ribot and Cecil Taylor. Harlem Jazz Series hosts the accomplished artist for an evening at the Rendall Memorial Presbyterian Church in New York.
