What You'll Get

Come bid Pacific Chorale artistic director John Alexander bon voyage with a program of nautical-themed music anchored by Vaughan Williams' Walt Whitman-inspired A Sea Symphony. After nearly a half-century conducting Orange County's professional symphonic choir, Alexander is set to retire, and is going out with this exciting concert featuring pieces by Barber and Beethoven saluting the majesty of the ocean. The night culminates with Vaughan Williams' setting of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, a spectacular large-scale work famously described by The New York Times as "big in contour, big in scope, big in feeling." Joining the Chorale at the Segerstrom Concert Hall are Pacific Symphony and guest soloists Layla Claire and Brian Mulligan.
