What You'll Get
The music that emerged in the aftermath of the Depression signaled a new sound and ushered in a sense of possibility. The Swing Era: Revolution in Rhythm showcases the timelessness of swing as a genre, cultural product and musical concept. Musical director Marcus Printup will combine new compositions inspired by the Swing Era alongside rare pieces from Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will also pay homage to the civil rights movement that began through music, as integrated bandstands helped change the status quo and give a sense of community through the definitive dance music of the 1930s.The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
