What You'll Get
Boom! Bang! Pop! In 1880, Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote a festival overture to commemorate his country's 1812 defense against Napoleon invasion, adding to it the sounds of war and celebration. Complete with a climactic volley of cannon fire, ringing chimes and brass fanfare, the 1812 Overture has long been a perfect accompaniment to fireworks displays, which is exactly what will happen when the San Diego Symphony performs it at this outdoor concert at the Embarcadero Marina Park South. As summer winds down this year, the symphony's 1812 Tchaikovsky Spectacular! will send it out in glorious style, lighting up San Diego Bay with cannons, fireworks -- and of course a performance of Tchaikovsky's spectacularly famous overture.
