What You'll Get
The San José Chamber Orchestra honors the next generation of chamber music virtuosos in its Young Artist Concert at Trianon Theatre, featuring award-winning young performers at the top of their game. Cellist Oliver Herbert, only 18 years old and winner of the 2015 Irving M. Klein International String Competition, not to mention the subject of an episode of NPR's From the Top, performs Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme. Then, the SJCO performs the premiere of A Journey, to the Center by San Jose State University student Genevieve Eckel, winner of the 2016 Allen Strange Memorial Composition Prize. Finally, the SJCO senior youth orchestra joins the SJCO for Michael Touchi's Reconstructed Dances and Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8.
