What You'll Get
Conductor Benjamin Zander and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra get their 2016-2017 season off to a scintillating start at Sanders Theatre with a trio of Russian works, including Rachmaninoff's famously challenging Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini -- which is said to have made even the composer-pianist himself anxious about performing it. But Boston's own virtuoso pianist Ya-Fei Chuang is no doubt up to the task. The BPO is also set to open with Requiem for Icarus, a dramatic, modern tone poem written by contemporary composer Lera Auerbach, and they'll close out the concert with Tchaikovsky's final work, Symphony No. 6, the emotionally powerful Pathetique.
The program is set to run 90 minutes. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar. Groupon is not affiliated with or sponsored by Sanders Theatre at Harvard University in connection with this deal.
