Tom Lehrer may be a genius, having earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Harvard at the age of 18, but perhaps his greatest contribution was as a singer-songwriter who wrote wickedly witty (and sometimes naughty) songs satirizing the social ills of his day, covering everything from the A-bomb, racism, pollution and pornography, to the military, the Boy Scouts and, of course, mathematics. Tomfoolery is an energetic music hall-style revue featuring nearly 30 of his sassy songs, which still ring true today. From a nun singing "Vatican Rag" to a '50s heartthrob's rendition of "National Brotherhood Week," the singing, dancing and comedy numbers of this Tri-County Players production of Tomfoolery at Cincinnati's Sharonville Cultural Arts Center spare no one and provide a great opportunity to sit back and laugh at ourselves.
