Pianist Efi Hackmey and cellist Carrie Bean Stute came together as Chiarina Chamber Players in 2015, impressing Capitol Hill music lovers with their innovative and accessible classical concerts. The co-artistic directors welcome talented guest musicians to join them at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in DC to revel in the space’s great acoustics and to explore everything from baroque and classical to 20th-century chamber music.

Pre-Concert Film Screening (6:30-7:00pm at St. Mark’s, Parish Hall): Come hear more about Messiaen’s monumental work in a 30-minute documentary by local filmmaker H. Paul Moon. The film introduces the piece from the perspective of the musicians—the same four guest musicians who will be performing the piece at the concert—and provides some background on the harrowing circumstances surrounding the work’s creation.
