What You'll Get
A bold, sexy and controversial story of looking for love in all the wrong places, Love and Human Remains heats up The Abyss Theatre. Set in the mid-1990s, the story revolves around David, a former TV actor now working as a waiter, whose life has become a bit complicated of late. A young busboy at David's restaurant has taken a real shine to him, his brawny buddy Bernie tends toward homoerotic drinking binges, and his roommate Candy is on a desperate -- and liberal -- search for a mate. But the real complications come in the form of dead bodies, when brutally murdered women begin popping up around Chicago as a serial killer's rampage casts a long shadow on the quest for love. Originally titled Unidentified Human Remains and the Nature of True Love, this blazing play from Brad Fraser premiered in Chicago in 1991, eventually being hailed as one of the "Top 10 Plays of the Year" by Time magazine.
