Often called the greatest haunted house movie of all time, The Haunting comes to the big screen at the Peabody Essex Museum for the Salem Horror Festival. Based on Shirley Jackson's classic novel The Haunting of Hill House, this 1963 adaptation directed by Robert Wise stars Julie Harris as one of a group of researchers who assemble in a mansion to investigate its seemingly cursed history. A panel discussion will follow the screening, and New York's Victorian goth-punk band The Long Losts will also perform.
