The theme of the night is Looking Back: Stepping Forward. Karen Bankhead portrays a black, female Forrest Gump in Etta Mae Mumphries: And the Rest is History. Dina Morrone plays a woman who moves to Italy in search of film stardom in The Italian In Me. In Journey This, Cheray O'Neal takes on the role of a woman grieving the death of her family. From My Grandmother's Grandmother Unto Me features Clarinda Ross in a chronicle of five generations of Appalachian women. Finally, The Lindz presents humorous, relationship-related spoken word poetry in WASP. LAWTF was founded in 1993 as a means to empower female writers, directors and performers.
