What You'll Get
In 1967, Ron Jones was a young, charismatic Palo Alto high school teacher informing his students about the Holocaust. To help his class better understand the historic events, Jones devised an experiment called "The Third Wave," an in-school mock-up of a fascist regime. This school project went on to inspire a Norman Lear TV movie, a novel, a documentary, a German film and plays around the world. Fifty years later, Jones -- now a Pulitzer-nominated writer -- comes to the Marsh San Francisco MainStage Theater to discuss his ground-breaking experiment with Spanish playwright Marc Montserrat-Drukker, who adapted Jones' story into his own hit play La Ola (The Wave). The pair will revisit this particularly potent, timely story in a Marsh Talk session moderated by JCC San Francisco artistic director Barbara Lane.
