With his vintage throwback baritone and hip, humor-filled stage presence, crooner Giacomo Gates has become a favorite at top clubs across the country. After more than a dozen years working construction on the Alaskan pipeline, Gates fulfilled his dream of becoming a jazz singer, specializing in bebop vocalese in the style of such greats as Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. He's since expanded his range and can belt out a tune with the best of 'em. He's released half-a-dozen CDs and recently toured with Keith Elling. Now he'll join the Nick Manson Trio for a night of swinging standards and entertaining stories at The Nash in Phoenix.
