The American Film Institute proclaimed The Searchers -- John Ford's 1956 classic starring John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter and Vera Miles -- the greatest American Western movie. Wayne plays an ex-soldier who embarks on an epic quest to find his abducted niece. The film returns to the big screen at Tucson's Temple of Music and Art, with an introduction by author Glenn Frankel, whose Middle East reporting for The Washington Post earned him the Pulitzer Prize. Frankel described the film to The New York Times as perhaps "the greatest Hollywood film that few people have seen."
