Benevolence Examines Legacies of Racial Violence
What You'll Get
In 1955, Mississippi shopkeeper Roy Bryant, a white man, murdered Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black boy, because his wife Caroline claimed he harassed her. In the same year, one town over, Clinton and Beulah Melton, a black couple, were murdered in racially motivated attacks — and their killers were acquitted. Benevolence takes a close up look at the lives of the two couples in the days surrounding these twin tragedies to consider the question of justice and how it’s applied. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
