Following a world premiere reading of Neil Labute's Reasons to be Pretty Happy with Paul Rudd, The Collective Studio premieres a back-to-back showing of the director's previous prior tales of the Reasons to Be series, which follows four working-class friends obsessed with attraction and society's values of happiness. reasons to be pretty, nominated for three Tony Awards in 2009, kicks off when one woman overhears her boyfriend describing her looks as "normal." As their relationship falls apart, their friends are pulled into the fray, and everyone is forced to confront the ugly truth about their dead-end jobs and fizzling relationships. Its sequel Reasons to Be Happy follows the same couple three years later, who find themselves wondering if they should try again -- the only problem is that she's now married to someone else and he's just started dating her best friend, a single mother with a jealous ex-husband.
