What You'll Get

Set at a modern-day Manhattan magazine, an office full of ambitious editorial assistants -- a.k.a. aspiring authors -- suffer through another boring workday, until a shocking tragedy occurs. But instead of bringing them together, it only seems to intensify their rivalry. Writer Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, who specializes in edgy satire, is the recent winner of a MacArthur "Genius" Grant and one of the country's hottest young playwrights. He took home an Obie for his 2014 plays Appropriate and An Octoroon and the off-Broadway Gloria was a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The committee called it "a play of wit and irony that deftly transports the audience from satire to thriller and back again." Attend a staged reading of this hot new work at Concord's Umbrella Center for the Arts.
