What You'll Get
If you've never heard a virtuoso play the stringed Russian instrument known as a domra, you've been missing out on a truly unique style of liltingly beautiful music. In-demand domra specialist Peter Omelchenko comes to F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre for a performance in concert with the Washington Balalaika Society, a Russian folk orchestra composed of more than 50 players of both the domra and its namesake instrument the balalaika. Together, Omelchenko and the ensemble present musical selections from Spain, Romania and Italy, a medley of four pieces from France, a tribute to Russian poet Sergei Yesenin, a medley of Fiddler on the Roof favorites and other works.
