Must I know how to drive stick to experience this deal?

Nicci G.  asked on  Jul 2, 2012

A:

All of the vehicles used on the Dream Car Sprint are equipped with "tiptronic"-style semi-automatic transmissions ('F1' in the Ferraris and 'e-Gear' in the Lamborghinis), so you'll be able to drive like a pro no matter what.

Q:

Can you take a passenger in the car for the 3 lap ride?

Geralyn  asked on  Jul 2, 2012

A:

We're very sorry, but passengers are not permitted on the Dream Car Sprint. Our professional instructors sit in the passenger seat while you drive, and all of the vehicles used on the event are 2-seaters.

Q:

How much does the insurance cost?

Flo A.  asked on  Jul 2, 2012

A:

No special insurance is required. As with all Gotham Dream Cars vehicle rentals and experiences, you are required to have full coverage personal insurance (comprehensive, collision, and liability) on a personal vehicle in order to participate as a driver. No insurance is required to be a ride-along passenger.

Q:

How long is the straight away? Would you say that its about a quarter mile, or is this experience more about the accuracy in the over all handling and more so aimed at how well these types of cars work in cornering.. Dan

dan s.  asked on  Jul 2, 2012

A:

The distance of the strait away varies day by day with how we set up the track. The strait is designed so that our professional drivers can achieve 90-100 MPH. Primarily, however, the track is set up with turns which will show the handling abilities of the car.

Q:

I bought 2 Groupons for my husband and am trying to reserve his time slots. I know each driver gets 3 runs at 3-6 minutes each. Would you recommend 2 back to back slots/is 30 minutes enough time to finish his first run and be ready for the second? For example would signing up for a 10:00 and a 10:30 be appropriate or would you recommend spacing them an hour apart (i.e. 10:00 and 11:00)?

Lucy G.  asked on  Jul 3, 2012

A:

The best way to do this would be to book 2 slots at the same time frame. i.e. 10am and 10am. He will be able to get in both of his runs then.

Rob F.  from  Merchant  replied on  Jul 3, 2012

A:

Just to clarify as well each voucher includes 3 laps which takes between between 3-6 minutes. A voucher does not entitle you to 3 runs at 3-6 minutes each.

Rob F.  from  Merchant  replied on  Jul 7, 2012

Q:

In the voucher is said something about ride alongs being 20 or under. My daughter is 13 and one of the reason's I bought this so that she could ride in a Ferrari. I know there are just 2 seats but is that doable somehow?

Paul D.  asked on  Jul 7, 2012

A:

They would ride along with out professional instructor driving.

What if it rains the day you have scheduled?

Grant G.  asked on  Jul 4, 2012

A:

Depends on the severity of the rain. We typically run the events if there is light rain. We will pause to dry off the track if the rain gets too heavy.

I bought this for my husband and tried to book the date. It says I need a voucher number, I can't seem to find this number. What or where is this?

Barbara S.  asked on  Jul 3, 2012

A:

There should be a voucher number on the Groupon that you purchased

Q:

I see there are specific dates--how long is this for for each person? What time of the day is it? Can multiple people share a day? Just to confirm, the Groupon buyer CAN drive if he's over 21, right? Are spectators welcome, and can they bring cameras? Does the rider get a choice of cars, or is it only the Ferrari or Lamborghini? Do riders in the car need to pay extra? Thanks! Jen jenniferleehermes@gmail.com

Jennifer H.  asked on  Jul 2, 2012

A:

Hi Jen - that's like a bonus question - 10 for the price of 1 :) 1) You can view all available dates & times on www.dreamcarsprint.com. The drive is 3 laps on our autocross course - that takes 3 - 6 minutes (like a roller coaster). You should plan to be at the event for approximately 1 hour - that includes registration, driving, and photo pick-up. 2) You can purchase up to 5 vouchers. Each voucher is good for one driver or one passenger. 3) Yes, a Groupon buyer over 21 can absolutely drive. 4) Yes, spectators are more than welcome to join and take photos. 5) The participant can choose between our Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo. 6) There is one person per car (our instructor is there as well) -- the cost is the same for a drive or a rider who can be driven by our pro.
