What You'll Get
To make un-fine wine, simply place grapes beneath a silk pillow, repeatedly mash your head against it, and then wring the pillowcase into a nearby mouth. Taste traditionally produced fine wines with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get admission for two people to one day of the wine-tasting event at Gougér Cellars Winery on Labor Day weekend in Vancouver (a $20 value). Attend the event on one of the following days:
- Saturday, September 3, noon to 6 p.m. on
- Sunday, September 4, noon to 6 p.m.
- Monday, September 5, noon to 5 p.m.
Gary Gougér employs his background as a pharmacist as well as his vintner's training in Australia to coax flavors from vines, crafting a series of blended creations as well as the occasional single-varietal bottling. Event guests frolic through a flight of at least five of Gary's wines running the gamut from the structured petite sirah and zinfandel of the #726 to the balanced crispness of the #901's viognier, pinot gris, and muscat. The oft-sampled #903 sports a platinum medal from the 2011 San Diego International Wine Competition to bolster its already robust, fruit-forward blend of cabernet sauvignon, petite sirah, zinfandel, and syrah. Meanwhile, small bites of food hidden throughout the winery's tasting room will cleanse palates and fuel further joviality like the inspirational speeches of a piñata.
Guests prance merrily together as music by finger-style guitarist Ron Hughes and other groups fills the high-ceilinged tasting room with mellifluous tunes. Groupon holders can also opt to fill their homes with grape elixirs without embezzling from the Kool-Aid Man by taking advantage of a 15% discount on cases of wine purchased during Labor Day weekend.

About Gougér Cellars Winery
When pharmacist Gary Gougér first started making wine, he was an amateur who was simply translating his love of vino into a pleasurable hobby. Soon, his passion took over, and he began racking up numerous International Gold awards for his red blends. His science background, coupled with training at one of the world’s finest winemaking schools in Australia, helped Gougér take his wines to the next level. Gougér now oversees his own winery, built in 2013 inside a renovated firehouse, where his bottles take center stage at tasting-room events ranging from holiday events to varietal samplers.
