As George Washington used to say, "Food and wine go together like edible brick and mortar." For $15, today's Groupon gets you $30 worth of wine and food bites at Grand Cru Wine Bar in Bellevue. Grand Cru's savory small plates accompany a collection of 40 international wines by the glass and more than 100 bottled vintages.
Grand Cru Wine Bar welcomes wine enthusiasts, uninitiated wine explorers, and couples who drink wine together in public. Enjoy free parking and one of the earth's oldest libations, which has a variety of flavor profiles, viscosities, aromas, and iambic pentameters. Grand Cru celebrates this diversity from the comforts of its modern wine bar. Natural sunlight bathes a dining space filled with handsome tables for two and pairs of leather chairs that sit before tabletops covered with a garden of wine glasses.
A round of customized small plate dishes are served as the fitting accompaniment to a vast wine menu. Food foundations are laid by mushroom ricotta crêpes with nutmeg cream ($10), steamed Penn Cove mussels in a coconut red Thai curry ($12), and the thin-crusted classic tart flambées topped with fresh onion, bacon, crème fraiche, and fromage blanc ($12). Succulent fare accentuates the rich tannins of a 2006 Januik harvested and bottled in the Columbia Valley ($22 for a glass) and a 2007 Brezza Dolcetto from Piedmont ($14 a glass), among many other wines waiting to become a slow sipper's acquaintance.

- Grand Cru offers the whole wine lifestyle experience to those who are new to wine - as well as seasoned collectors. – Julien Perry, Komo News
- The menu offers a decent selection of small plates. I like most anything rolled in rice paper, and no exception was the braised rabbit roulade, with fresh herbs and sauteed leeks complimenting the flavor of the rabbit. – Jay Friedman, Gastrolust
Three Citysearchers give Grand Cru Wine Bar a solid four stars:
- Everyone was very knowledgeable about the wine being featured as well as everything on the menu. The lobster ravioli & mac n cheese were to die for and the bottle of wine we selected for dinner was fantastic. – breatheagain
