Collaboratively designed by renowned golf-course architect Steve Smyers and golf legend Nick Faldo, Grande Pines’ 18-hole, par 72 course spans 7,012 yards of emerald fairways and cerulean waterways. The layout deftly integrates the surrounding natural arbors with a coterie of cavernous bunkers and encroaching water hazards to form a triumvirate of tee-to-green treachery. Myriad hazards force golfers to make perplexing course-management decisions, such as when to lay up, when to go for the green, and how to communicate with roaming Frenchmen who mistake sand traps for nude beaches.

A bag of range balls enables pre-round practice sessions at Grande Pines’ driving and short-game ranges, which provide necessary prep for a decidedly fast-starting round; the 618-yard, par 5 second hole is billed as the hardest and lengthiest on the course. Four tee options temper the course’s relatively difficult nature, and this deal enables golfers to play the course two times, allowing them to atone for past mistakes the second time around. Each cart features ProLink yardage technology, which keeps duffers abreast of the distances to each green, the whereabouts of intervening hazards, and the movements of heist-planning waterfowl.

Golfers can replenish in between rounds at the Greenside Grille with an entree, side, and soft drink from a menu of casual lunch fare. Players receive a $12 voucher to use on eats such as the pressed cuban sandwich ($8), the chicken-caesar salad ($8.75), and the tuna-salad croissant ($8), which are ideal sustenance to ward off the hunger spells cast by cart-path mirages.
