There's something for winter-sports enthusiasts of all stripes at Granite Gorge, whether they like skiing, snow-tubing, or guessing the height of things. The crown jewel in the park's treasure trove of trails is Pinnacle Mountain, chosen by former Olympians in the 1950s for its location, protection from the wind, and ability to hold snow. But besides skiing, snowboarding, linking and tubing down from that peak, visitors to the gorge can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and simply warming up with a mug of hot cocoa at the Lookout Lounge.
Granite Gorge offers 20 trails, four lifts including a learning area moving carpet lift, a handle tow for parks and novice terrain, and a six minute ride, base to summit, double chairlift. What's more, USA Today praised cosmic tubing—a regular Saturday night event where the mountain comes to life with black lights, fluorescent tubes, and music from a live DJ—as one of the country's 10 best unique winter activities.
