Donuts and 5Ks don't often go hand in hand. That's what makes The Great Donut Run work so well; this unexpected combo helps participants make healthy choices while still maintaining their senses of humor. Participants can "glaze a trail" around the course, which winds its way around the campus of Irvine Valley College. As the name suggests, there are donuts available during the main race at a station midway through the course. Participants with an iron stomach can take the Donut Challenge, during which they munch a donut mid-way through their run and another at the finish. Finishers receive sparkly finisher's medal and donut run shirt, and awards are given to most ambitious eaters and best costumes.
