Gross Electric

George (Joe) Gross opened Gross Electric in 1910, and the array of lamps, lighting fixtures, and home accessories in the shop traces the history of design through the ensuing century. Chandeliers twinkle, the light dancing off time-tested bronze curlicues and frosted-glass or ultramodern nickel-plated twists. Each salesperson has trained with the American Lighting Association, so they're well prepared to guide customers among lamps and fixtures of every imaginable size and style, the work of more than 250 manufacturers. Patrons can also find artwork and mirrors to hang on walls or over embarrassingly bad paintings of safes. Fountains murmur in the shop alongside ranks of tables, vases, and home decor, stretching into an expanse of wrought iron, wood, and glass.
