Adding a modern spin to Sophocles' classic Greek tragedy Antigone, A.R. Gurney (Love Letters, Sylvia) brings the battling Creon and Antigone to the stage, as a gifted Jewish college senior and her Greek Theater professor. Problems arise when she deviates from the assignment, and her professor won't accept the play she wrote -- an anti-nuclear themed update of Antigone. Neither will budge from their convictions, and tensions mount as the student begins to produce her play on campus. Accusations fly, the dean makes a visit and the play goes on. The Group Rep presents Gurney's Another Antigone, which revisits this classic tale of unbending hubris that destroys all who fall prey to its spell.
This show is recommended for ages 12 and older.
