The amphibious experts at Grove Scuba introduce habitual terrestrials to Miami’s many dive sites with beginner and advanced dive classes. Dip toes and more in the water in the entry-level Open Water Diver course, suitable for ages 10 and older, which grants certification for 60-foot dives with one classroom session and five confined water dives in a pool. The course concludes with four open-water dives over a two-day span, during which students explore underwater sites and try to rehabilitate fish-school dropouts. The advanced course, suitable for ages 12 and older, includes one classroom session and five dives that school students in wreck exploration, underwater navigation, night diving, and drift diving and furthers the career of budding ichthyologists with the AWARE fish-identification course.
PADI’s e-learning website allows the classroom session of both courses to be completed online, just like most tap-dancing degrees. Both classes also require purchase of course materials, with an open-water manual, PADI dive logbook, electronic dive planner, and certification card for the entry-level course ($75) and an advanced open-water manual and certification card for the advanced-level course ($44.10).
