The Issue: Inadequate College Resources at High Schools
Many of Philadelphia's underserved public high schools lack adequate resources for students seeking college admission, leaving many students from low-income families at a disadvantage. Students without college degrees face greater difficulty securing jobs, and their lifetime earning potential falls far below the expectations of individuals with college education.
The Campaign: Provide College Mentoring Services
If this Grassroots campaign raises $140, then 12+ can provide college-mentoring services to four students from low-income families for an entire school year. Each additional $35 raised will provide a school year of college-mentoring services for another high-school student. The costs of providing mentoring services include training new mentors, providing materials for college-access centers, and evaluating the effectiveness of programming to maximize the benefits for students.
