The Issue: Professional Attire for Disadvantaged Women
Nearly 4,500 organizations throughout the world—including domestic-violence shelters, homeless shelters, and immigration services—send women to Dress for Success for professional apparel and career-development services. Although these clients have scheduled job interviews, they often lack the appropriate wardrobe to secure and keep a job.
The Campaign: Outfitting Women with Business Attire
If this Grassroots campaign raises $300, then Dress for Success Palm Beaches can provide three women returning to the workforce with business-appropriate attire, including cosmetics and accessories, and send them to a career workshop. The women receive one suit for the job interview, as well as interview-appropriate accessories such as scarves, jewelry, and shoes. After obtaining employment, they can return to Dress for Success to receive up to a week's worth of outfits to provide a foundation for a professional wardrobe. Each additional $100 raised will be used to provide another woman with business-appropriate attire and a career workshop.
