What You'll Get
The Issue: Early Education Improves Academic Performance
According to data from a lifetime study beginning in preschool, children involved in early-education programs are more likely to graduate from high school and hold a job, and less likely to commit crimes.
The Campaign: Digital Microscopes for Interactive Learning
If this Grassroots campaign raises $450, then Metropolitan Family Services can purchase three new digital microscopes for its children's centers. Each additional $150 raised will be used to buy another digital microscope.
As part of prekindergarten science education at the centers, Metropolitan plans to incorporate the digital microscopes to provide students with a more interactive learning experience. For example, teachers will take the students on a fall nature walk where students can pick leaves to later examine under the microscopes. The images can be projected on large screens through a computer, so students can work in groups to study the pictures at the same time and engage in class-wide discussion about their findings.
