Q:

It says over 50 have been purchased. Does that mean they raised enough money?

Anna H.  asked on  Jul 10, 2012

A:

Hi Anna, as I mentioned above, the agility course will take $500 to build. Additional funds raised here will be used to address other needs at the HS West Michigan shelter. Some of the improvements needed there include: -water drainage issues -dog runs filled with gravel that causes injury and burns to the dogs -noise levels in the dog kennel area that exceed OSHA standards -water damage from a leaking roof and peeling paint Money will be used to fix those issues and also to add storage shelving for the shelter's pet-food bank program for low-income pet parents and add cat enrichment such as perches and toys in the cat rooms to prevent stress and relieve boredom for the cats.

Q:

Do you know if all the donations are going directly to a special fund at the Petfinder Foundation to ensure the money is going to building the dog agility course at the Human Society of West Michigan? Or is it just going to Petfinder?

Anna H.  asked on  Jul 10, 2012

A:

HI Anna, the funds are going to our Rescue U program, which will be building the course (you can learn more about Rescue U here: http://www.rescueu.org/, or here: http://petfinderfoundation.com/rescueu/, or here: http://www.petfinder.com/blog/rescue-u/). The first $500 will fund the agility course at HS West Michigan. Any additional funds will go toward giving the pets at that shelter additional enrichment (such as toys and perches for the shelter cats) and making further physical improvements to the shelter itself (I'll give more examples in the answer to your question below).
