The Issue: Books Needed for a School Reading Program
Speedway Children's Charities Texas Chapter gears up students for reading with its Speeding to Read program. During the 2011-2012 program, students at Clara Love Elementary School read more than 83,000 books, with 90% of the students meeting or exceeding the faculty’s reading goals. Fueled by the success of last year’s program, the organization is expanding its reach to 73 classrooms and more than 1,600 students.
The Campaign: Supplying Books for a Reading Program
If this Grassroots campaign raises $500, then Speedway Children's Charities Texas Chapter can purchase 100 books for a school library. Toyota of Fort Worth will match donations up to a $5,000 total. Each additional $10 raised—with its $10 match—will purchase another two books. The Speeding to Read program, an incentive-based competition involving Clara Love Elementary, Justin Elementary, and W. R. Hatfield Elementary Schools, will use these books during the school year to encourage frequent reading and help improve children’s literacy.
All donations will be matched up to a $5,000 total by Toyota of Fort Worth.
