Cobra's SPX 5500 radar detector not only gives you long-range protection against radar and laser, but it'll also announce what type of band it's detecting so you can make an informed decision without taking your eyes off the road. In addition to warnings for instant-on POP radar, the SPX 5500 also monitors a safety band to inform you of nearby road work, emergencies, and other situations. And you can still check out the easy-to-read DigiView® text display for additional information when you need it.  

Powerful yet elusive

The SPX 5500 offers complete immunity to VG-2 and Spectre I radar detector detection devices, and warns you when they're in the vicinity — you'll also get alerts for advanced Spectre IV+ detectors. The lightning-fast circuitry housed inside its compact chassis alerts you to threats well in advance, and you can follow the 5-level digital strength signal meter to learn how close you are to the signal's source.

Extras for the road

Choose between city and highway modes to keep false alerts to a minimum. Want to keep things quiet? The IntelliMute® feature reduces false alerts based on your relative speed, and keeps your detector free from detection. Turn on the dim mode and give your eyes a break when driving at night.
