The AmeriCorps St. Louis Education Team provides individualized, intensive literacy tutoring to kindergarten through third-grade students in St. Louis Public Schools. The program aims to get students to reading proficiency levels by the third grade, with the ultimate goals to help them succeed in academic pursuits, graduate from high school, and help end cycles of poverty.
By working one-on-one with at-risk students throughout the school year, AmeriCorps tutors can effectively identify learning obstacles, target each child's individual needs, evaluate students' progress, and develop strong mentoring relationships. Since 2006, 91 percent to 100 percent of students who participated in the tutoring program ended the school year at their target reading grade levels or higher.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help AmeriCorps improve students' reading skills with the goal of ending cycles of poverty. If G-Team members raise $370, then one AmeriCorps member can tutor a public-school student three times a week for one school year. Each additional donation will go toward providing a year of AmeriCorps literacy tutoring for another child.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 percent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
