Communities In Schools of Central Ohio (CIS) aims to prevent school dropouts by providing critical services such as short-term counseling, mentoring, and crisis intervention for 1,816 students and their families, as well as afterschool activities for local 778 children. For the 2009–2010 school year, 88% of pupils assisted by CIS reduced or eliminated their out-of-school suspensions and behavioral incidents, while reporting improvements in their self-confidence and outlooks on life.

As part of its efforts to make students more comfortable at school, CIS provides essential supplies for students whose families struggle to purchase basic necessities. Many families with low incomes cannot afford to replace worn-down or outgrown footwear. Particularly in winter, poorly fitting footwear can cause discomfort or embarrassment that distracts students from academic endeavors.

Join G-Team and donate $10 to help CIS provide new footwear to children in need. If G-Team members raise $300, then CIS can purchase new pairs of shoes for 15 children whose families cannot otherwise afford them. Each additional $20 raised will provide a pair of shoes for another child.

Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
