Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease in the U.S., according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Left untreated, it can lead to infections and serious oral diseases that cause pain and can interfere with a child's ability to eat and speak. Cook Children's‘s Save a Smile program provides regular preventative and restorative dental care for children from low-income families.

Save a Smile transports youth ranging in age from kindergarten to third grade to volunteer dentist offices or the Tarrant County College Hygiene School, where kids' teeth are cleaned, x-rayed, and treated with fluoride. A helpful representative manages each child’s case, and after each checkup, youngsters receive an oral-health kit containing a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, and educational materials. Last school year, Save a Smile administered dental screenings for more than 6,000 children.

Join G-Team and donate $10 to help provide dental care to children. If G-Team members raise $300, then Cook Children’s can fund teeth cleanings and fluoride treatments for five children from low-income families. Each additional $60 raised will fund a teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment for one child.
