On average, families spent $807 on prom in 2011, but nearly 25% of families with teenagers spent nothing on prom, likely due to financial need. Ever After Gowns organizes and distributes prom gowns and formal accessories for high-school students in need across the Twin Cities.
At Ever After Gowns's annual boutique event, students can select one free formal gown and accessories to wear to their high-school prom and keep following the event. Guidance counselors from 20 local high schools select girls based on need and merit to attend the boutique event, where they can choose an outfit that will give them increased confidence during their high-school celebration. Ever After Gowns plans to purchase gowns in underrepresented sizes, 0–6 and 14 and larger, to help young women in need have an exemplary prom experience with a quality, well-fitting dress.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help provide prom gowns for young women from low-income families. If G-Team members raise $300, then Ever After Gowns can purchase two gowns in sizes 0–6 and 14 and larger to supplement its underrepresented sizes. Each additional $150 raised will fund another prom dress.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
Ever After Gowns
Ever After Gowns provides gowns and accessories to help high-school students afford the cost of attending prom. High-school guidance counselors select young women in need and invite them to a temporary boutique at the school. At the boutique, teens are paired with personal shoppers, who help them select the perfect dress, shoes, and handbag. They can also undergo makeovers and work with professional stylists to transform their hair. Through this personalized experience, young women not only get free dresses and accessories for prom, they can also build their self-esteem and self-confidence. Ever After Gowns also invites people with disabilities to the boutique event in support of the Starry Night Prom.
