What You'll Get
Therapeutic horseback riding can help people with disabilities increase their strength, balance, mobility, and confidence, but the medical expenses associated with disability prevent many people from being able to afford horseback riding. Freedom Ride empowers children and adults with disabilities such as cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis by providing them with access to therapeutic horseback riding and riding lessons.
During the lessons, a PATH International–certified therapeutic riding instructor guides students in conjunction with a team of volunteers. During the course of a 30–45 minute session, riders engage in exciting tasks and games that teach basic horsemanship skills while developing the physical strength and cognitive abilities of the rider. Lessons encourage companionship with the horse, and may impart some of the health benefits associated with hippotherapy, a physical therapy that uses the movements of a horse to provide motor and sensory rehabilitation. As part of Freedom Ride's philosophy to never turn away riders who cannot afford lessons, the organization would like to provide a 10-lesson scholarship for a student who needs financial assistance.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help fund horseback lessons for individuals with disabilities. If G-Team members raise $350, then Freedom Ride can provide a scholarship for 10 therapeutic-horseback-riding lessons for one individual. Each additional $35 raised will fund another lesson.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
