When survivors of domestic violence seek refuge in a shelter, they must often leave their homes in haste, preventing them from bringing basic necessities and personal belongings. Interval House provides women who have survived domestic violence with a temporary home, parenting workshops, legal support, and counseling for their children. Between 2009 and 2010, 29 per cent of Interval House’s residents had received a death threat, and 14 per cent of child residents had been abused.
Many of the women Interval House serves arrive without basic necessities. The organization's residential program provides welcome kits for families when they arrive in order to help smooth their transitions into the shelter. Each family member receives a set of basic hygiene essentials, including shampoo, soap, towels, diapers, and toothbrushes. By providing basic items, the shelter hopes to alleviate stress levels as women begin their transitions out of violent situations.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help provide survivors of domestic violence with everyday necessities. If G-Team members raise $400, then Interval House can provide 10 survivors with welcome kits filled with hygiene essentials. Each additional donation will purchase another welcome kit.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 per cent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
