According to data gathered by the U.S. Department of Justice, more than 3.4 million people ages 18 and older were victims of stalking in 2006. Founded in response to the murder of 19-year-old Jodi Sanderholm by her stalker, Jodi’s Voice advocates for a stronger legal definition of stalking and plans to expand its operations by providing a shelter and financial services for victims of stalking, as well as educating the public about the issue.
As part of its educational-outreach efforts, Jodi’s Voice plans to create a public-service announcement addressing the dangers of stalking to alert potential victims and increase community awareness. The PSA will explain the misunderstood nature of stalking, that anyone can be a stalker or a victim, and the growing threat of cyber stalking. After its previous PSA on campus stalking in 2009, Jodi’s Voice received an additional 10,000 hits to its website, garnering public attention and raising awareness to help prevent future stalking-related crimes. As an organization funded primarily by public donations, Jodi’s Voice needs additional help to fund the cameral rental and setup fee for its next PSA.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help raise awareness about stalking. If G-Team members raise $250, then Jodi’s Voice can fund camera rental and setup fees for a public-service announcement on the dangers of stalking, with all donations matched up to $1,500 in the form of services from Carafelli Productions. Each additional donation will go toward funding other production costs.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 percent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
All donations will be matched up to a $1,500 total by Carafelli Productions.
