According to data compiled by Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB), neighborhoods populated with trees boast lower energy costs, increased property values, and up to a 60 percent reduction in street-level particulates. KIB transforms the city's outdoor spaces through volunteer-led cleanup efforts, painting projects, tree and flower planting, and other environmental and aesthetic improvements. Partnering with the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee, KIB’s NeighborWoods urban forestry program has planted 2,012 trees across the city leading up to next February's game.
KIB will ensure that each tree it plants will stand between 6 and 12 feet tall with a 1-inch diameter to improve its immediate visual impact and ability to survive in challenging urban conditions. Along with planting the trees, NeighborWoods volunteers will contribute two years of maintenance and watering for each tree. The organization has set the ultimate goal of planting 100,000 trees by 2017.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help plant new trees in neighborhoods across Indianapolis. If G-Team members raise $560, then Keep Indianapolis Beautiful can plant two trees and provide them with a commitment of two years of maintenance. Each additional $280 raised will fund another tree with maintenance.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 percent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
