Reach for Youth provides adolescents with programming that addresses many of the personal and social challenges they face, such as bullying, drug addiction, depression, and sexual violence. The organization's programs encourage a positive self-image, teach healthy-decision-making skills, and help young people cope with uncomfortable peer situations.
Reach for Youth’s counseling staff conducts two-hour interactive workshops that allow teens to share stories, learn from one another’s experiences, and develop the tools they need to combat negative influences. The workshops are designed for individuals who have been referred by the counseling staff and Teen Court, a program that provides an alternative to the Juvenile Justice system for first-time offenders. In the peer-pressure workshop, counselors encourage teens who have bullied others or been victims of bullying to interact, and place an emphasis on building self-esteem. One participant came to the peer-pressure workshop after school officials discovered she had been skipping school to avoid being bullied her about her weight. Reach for Youth provided an array of support—including counseling and the peer pressure workshop—which helped her to improve school attendance and pass all of her classes.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help Reach for Youth provide a peer pressure workshop to adolescents. If G-Team members raise $250, then five young people can attend Reach for Youth’s peer pressure workshop. Each additional donation will sponsor another participant to attend the workshop.
