According to data compiled by the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, more than 5,000 Houston-area children experienced homelessness in 2010. StandUp For Kids works in cities across the country to provide outreach and assistance to kids living on the streets, offering programs and services aimed at keeping them safe and healthy and improving their educational and employment opportunities.
As part of its efforts to support kids who are experiencing homelessness, the organization assembles and distributes survival packs so that youth can maintain basic hygiene and have access to food. Each survival kit contains nutritional and hygienic necessities including a juice box or water, beanie weanies, packaged spaghetti, a pair of socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and soap. StandUp For Kids aims to first ensure these youths' basic needs are met so that they will be better equipped to take the next steps toward getting off the streets.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help provide basic nutritional and hygienic necessities to kids living on the streets. If G-Team members raise $400, then StandUp For Kids can assemble survival kits for 40 youth. Each additional $10 raised will fund one survival kit for a homeless youth.
