Island communities tend to develop their own unique flavors and cooking preferences due to their isolated nature and the international ban on exporting hamburger seeds. Taste island preferences with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of island-fusion fare at Guahan Grill in Oceanside. Special summer hours mean Guahan Grill is open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 9 p.m. on Sunday–Thursday.
Guahan Grill evokes the ease of island life in a menu replete with tropical-inspired barbecue meats and seasoned seafood dishes. Preface the repast with kelaguen, a dish made with chopped chicken ($6.55), shrimp ($7.95), or fish ($8.95) forming a conga line with lemon, green onions, and hot peppers served with tortillas. In the barbecue bowl, chicken, beef short ribs, or pork spare ribs hop off the barbecue hot and ready to wrestle with your choice of one side ($6.50), and chamorro fried rice puts Spam, chicken, or beef in its place alongside white rice, soy sauce, and garlic with a side of SPF 30 to guard against island rays that may have stowed away ($7.10).

About Guahan Grill
Guahan Grill doesn't just use its food to give diners a taste of Guam's cuisine. Instead, it tries to give them a small taste of the island lifestyle.
Owner Carlsky Quichocho hoped to share his passion for his home, so he assembled a team that would commit to creating the recipes he grew up loving, as well as a few contemporary renditions of those favorites. Barbecued meats appear prominently throughout the menu, as do dishes with distinctively tropical ingredients, such as the shrimp sautéed in coconut milk and the platter of fried spam and portuguese sausage. To accompany this hearty, casual cooking, the restaurant offers a selection of beers by the pint or the bottle.
Beer in hand, it becomes that much easier to relax amid Guahan Grill's island-themed decor. Artwork depicting palm trees adorns one of the sunset orange walls, and the entire bar is built from sturdy bamboo stalks. To keep the vibe even more mellow and laid-back, the sound system plays a steady stream of island music and recorded lectures explaining the complex intricacies of applying for a home loan.
