What You'll Get
Like contact lenses, food is better for you when changed daily and not stored under the sink in a pool of cloudy saline solution. Pop in a mouthful of daily delights with today's Groupon: for $25, you get fondue for two and two wine flights (a $55 value) from Gudrun Tasting Room, located in historic Steveston. Designed and hand-built by owner Patrick Tubajon, Gudrun is a specialty charcuterie/fromagerie tasting room serving up a locavore's dreamscape of fresh, locally produced meats, cheeses, salads, breads, and libations. Gudrun's fondue for two boats a bubbling concoction of the daily cheese selection paired with wines possessing a similar personality and astrological compatibility. The menu is charmingly scrawled across a wall-sized blackboard and changes daily, depending on the local produce available. Gudrun stocks only sustainably sourced cheese and handmade charcuterie, and all wines are sustainable, organic, bio-dynamic, or bionic, with shapely, enhanced legs and super-strengthened tannins.
The Richmond Review recognized Gudrun Tasting Room for its wine selection, beer selection, and excellent bartender, Sean Jang. The restaurant also won first place as a first-date destination and was recognized for its brunch menu, late-night eats, and lounge area. Additionally, Gudrun was named best new suburban restaurant in 2009 by Georgia Straight. The things i'm loving blog and The Conveyor Belt also mentioned Gudrun.
- …every visit to Gudrun is one that you – and your taste buds – will remember! – Kate Senkow, things i'm loving
- The rumors were true and the place is amazing. An intimate décor with the menu chalked right up on the wall and a delicious menu of fresh, locally sourced meats, cheeses, salads and breads. – Terri Potratz, The Conveyor Belt
