In the States, he's best known for his stirring vocals on Peter Gabriel's 1986 ballad "In Your Eyes." But in his native Senegal, Youssou N'Dour is regarded as a national treasure. He's been dubbed "one of the most beloved artists in the entire continent of Africa" by Rolling Stone, he's served as the country's culture minister and he even made a run for the presidential seat in 2012. N'Dour's signature Grammy-winning sound blends traditional Senegalese mbalax dance rhythms with hip-hop, jazz and Latin beats. The internationally-celebrated singer, composer and percussionist has performed with artists like Paul Simon, Tracy Chapman and Sting and has been the subject of two music-minded documentaries. He'll bring four decades' worth of musical expertise and globe-trotting experiences when he returns to the Lisner Auditorium stage in D.C.
