What You'll Get
Presenting loved ones with an arrangement of flowers expresses more thoughtfulness than giving them a fistful of uprooted grass or gently blowing dandelion seeds in their face while they sleep. Exemplify the finer points of plant placement with today's Groupon: for $99, you get a two-hour floral-arrangement class at Botany Floral Studio (a $200 value).
The staff at Botany Floral Studio teaches floral-arrangement classes on weekdays and weekends and assembles bouquets that blend locally grown flowers with exotic florae. During the two-hour hands-on classes, instructors lead intimate groups of four to six students in lessons that, like geese's mailing addresses, change with the seasons. Throughout the year, lessons take on motifs such as Christmas centrepieces, colour-themed arrangements, spring bulb and twig arrangements, and traditional European hand-tied bouquets. Pupils cull together beautiful displays from among the shop's orchids, garden roses, and tropical flowers, all included in the price of the class. The class offers an education in specific styles of floral art, allows students to ponder whether violets are really blue, and helps them practice close examination of floral form and beauty to develop a unique artistic aesthetic. Call Botany Floral Studio for class time offerings.

About Botany Floral Studio
Though Botany Floral Studio owner Rachelle Soucy holds a BFA degree in studio art and has designed for flower shops throughout Canada, her passion for blooms stretches back much further. As a child, Soucy accompanied her grandmother to her garden, where she witnessed the cycles of the seasons and the various flowers, vegetables, and plants they brought with them.
At Botany Floral Studio, Soucy’s nostalgia for her formative years tangibly permeates the space. Locally grown blooms, succulents, orchids, flowering branches, and berries mingle with the wistful dreaminess of the studio, beckoning visitors to linger by inimitably arranged displays to see if a peony will whisper them a story from their childhood. In addition to perusing the aromatic bouquets, visitors can enroll in arrangement workshops and enlist the services of Soucy and her staff, who lovingly tailor designs for events such as weddings and Valentine’s Day.
