What You'll Get

Before golf was invented, grassy pastures were viewed as the exclusive territory of roaming sheep, herds of cattle, and overzealous Civil War re-enactors. Celebrate turf’s competitive utility with today’s Groupon to Cordova Golf Course. Choose from the following options:

 • For $16, you get a golf outing for one on Monday–Friday (up to a $36 total value) that includes the following items:
 • 18 holes of golf (up to an $18 value)
 • Cart rental (a $12 value)
 • One medium bucket of balls (a $6 value)

 • For $19, you get a golf outing for one on Saturday or Sunday (a $38 total value) that includes the following items:
 • 18 holes of golf (a $20 value)
 • Cart rental (a $12 value)
 • One medium bucket of balls (a $6 value)

 • For $29, you get five one-hour group lessons (a $65 value). All five lessons must be used in the same week. Lessons are available March 19–23, April 9–13, May 14–18, or June 21–25.

Cordova offers 18 holes of verdant putting pastures spotted with pristine ponds, mature trees, and smooth greens. Fire up the cart and rouse clubs from their slumber before driving dimpled spheres past ponds, chipping gravity-challenged balls above sunken sand traps, and executing cart-customization projects when the groundskeepers aren’t looking. The sprawling, well-manicured grounds feature towering trees on the banks of the lakes, and wide-open fairways invite long drives and physics-defying putts that mimic Arnold Palmer’s signature. A lighted driving range and practice putting green enchant patient players looking to perfect their swing, posture, and visor-wearing skills.

Golfers looking to shave strokes from their game can opt for five one-hour group lessons with Jim Marta, who has served as Cordova’s head golf pro for the past 30 years. Under Jim’s keen eye—the left one—students will hone a consistent swing with the help of a take-home video analysis revealing their stance, arc, and postswing pirouette. Ideal for beginners looking to learn the game’s fundamentals, Jim’s group lessons can also help intermediate golfers fine-tune muscle memory and basic form after years spent trying to revive jai alai. Although not included in the Groupon, hungry hackers taking a breather from swinging, slicing, and sand-trap-castle building may stop at the clubhouse and order a sandwich, hot dog, or beverage from Stu’s Bar & Grill, which is open from dawn until dusk.

Cordova Golf Course’s rates fluctuate throughout the day and week.

About Cordova Golf Course

Since 1958, players have migrated to Cordova Golf Course in order to try their hands, woods, and putters at the public course's 18 holes and to calibrate their swings at the driving range or with lessons. PGA professional Jacob Marta tailors swing instruction to an individual's needs and physical limitations, helping golfers attain their own natural, repeatable swing motion. Creating a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere, Jacob also takes his instruction onto the course, where he helps players knock strokes off their scorecards. The same atmosphere extends to junior clinics, in which youngsters can learn all facets of the game, including rules and basic etiquette.

Spanning about 4,832 yards, the course challenges golfers of all skill levels with well placed trees and three lakes boasting the combined gravitational pull of a small planet. A smooth cart path allows players to ferry their clubs swiftly from hole to hole, or head over to the clubhouse to catch barbecue and beer at Hacker's Bar-N-Grill. Cordova Golf Course also facilitates a new game called FootGolf, a golf-like sport played with a soccer ball. Players must kick the ball across the course, looking to sink it in an oversized hole.
