Only negative was the Guadalupe River flow not enough for kayaking. Had to do Boerne Lake.

Tucked in an old longhorn ranch in Texas Hill Country, Don Strange Ranch’s adventure challenge course promotes leadership skills and strengthens teamwork through ropes courses, ziplines, and kayaking. Engage in high-altitude camaraderie on the alpine tower, a five-story log structure that forces participants to face some of the same challenges presented by rock climbing such as upper-body-strength tests or territorial mountain goats. Fifty-foot rope ladders dangle from the top, forcing climbers to hop outside of comfort zones. Don Strange’s 350- to 400-foot ziplines can help participants overcome personal demons while soaring above the ranch’s verdant, sprawling landscape, and the one-hour kayaking excursion on the Guadalupe River begins with navigational challenges and piranha-herding tasks. Refuel after a taxing day of hurdling personal barriers with a burger and fries from Don Strange’s kitchen, ideal for riverside dining.

About Don Strange Ranch

The low-hanging branches of southern live oak trees stretch out over the house and pavilion areas at Don Strange Ranch, dappling parties, weddings, and corporate team gatherings with splashes of sunlight. Since 1952, the 125-acre longhorn ranch in the Texas Hill Country has hosted myriad events, including scenes from the PBS music documentary series Live from the Artists Den and the wedding of country music stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.

More than just a picturesque backdrop, the ranch’s rugged natural surroundings host outdoor activities such as ropes courses and kayak trips down the Guadalupe River. And the friendly staffers who man 350- to 400-foot ziplines work to ease guests out of their comfort zones, like a mother bird pushing her young out of the nest for their first extreme base-jumping lesson. :m]]
